Onelo is local-first. We do not collect your personal data, create accounts, or run behavioral tracking.
Your notes, tasks, settings, and AI conversations remain on your device. Network requests happen only for the live features you choose to use.
What We Collect
We do not collect personal information such as names, emails, profile IDs, or usage analytics on our own servers.
Local storage only: your Gemini API key, notes, tasks, layout, theme, and AI conversation history.
Never sent by us: your content and preferences are not uploaded to our backend — Onelo has no backend.
No ad stack: no trackers, pixels, or third-party analytics SDKs.
How Data Is Used
Stored data is used only to make the extension function for you.
- Tasks and notes are saved so you can reopen and continue later.
- Your AI conversation history is kept so Onelo has context across tabs — stored locally, never on a server.
- Timer and reminder state is kept so the badge and widgets stay consistent.
Third-Party APIs
Certain features send data directly from your browser to a third-party API — never through an Onelo server, because there isn't one.
- AI assistant: your message and relevant page content are sent directly to Google's Gemini API using your own API key.
- Weather: sends location input to weather provider APIs.
- Currency: sends selected currency codes to exchange-rate APIs.
- News: sends selected region or category for headline retrieval.
Voice input/output uses your browser's built-in Web Speech APIs — audio is processed by your browser, not by Onelo.
Chrome Permissions
- storage: required to persist extension state, your API key, and conversation history on your device.
- notifications: used for timer and reminder alerts.
- alarms: powers reminders you set through the assistant.
- activeTab / scripting: lets the floating assistant read the current page's content when you ask about it, and lets YouTube summaries read the video transcript.
- contextMenus: adds the right-click "Rephrase / Translate / Summarize / Explain" actions.
- tabs / windows: keeps the assistant's conversation in sync across your open tabs.
Onelo does not request access to your browsing history, cookies, or bookmarks.
Retention & Deletion
Your data remains under your control inside browser storage until you clear it or uninstall the extension.
- Clear browser site data or local storage.
- Remove your API key or reset the conversation from within Onelo's settings.
- Uninstall Onelo to remove all extension-owned storage.
Your Rights
Because we do not retain personal data on servers, rights around access, correction, and deletion are inherently local and immediate: you can inspect and remove your own data directly on your device.
